However, there is a dearth of exciting theatre going on here in Utah Valley. I don't want to downplay whatever production you may have seen or may be involved in; I am an admitted theatre snob and I take my attendance seriously.
My sister suggested jokingly that she and all my nearby compatriots could put on a play for me, in the absence of acceptable theatre options. That joke set my thinking wheels in motion and reminded me of a scene in "Dan in Real Life," where the family participates in a talent show at their cabin.

If we had thought of this idea even a week earlier, I would have jumped on it! I know some seriously talented people, and I would love to see what they chose to perform. A beautiful backdrop, a master of ceremonies, twinkly footlights (also known as Christmas tree lights!). And to be honest, I would set up a birthday girl throne from which I would watch all of the festivities. Snooty!
I will have to set aside this idea for another time, but if you have a birthday coming up in the near future, I implore you to use this idea and take a million pictures. It would definitely be a night to remember!
In the meantime, for my birthday, maybe I'll be inspired by another scene from "Dan in Real Life" and have a big ol' early morning exercise class.
