I Love You, Chipbreath

When Caleb and I first started dating in January 2006, I told him, "I'd like to take it slow. If you think you love me, please don't say it. I don't want to rush anything."

Fast-forward to three days later, when Caleb professed his undying love for me. My response? "Thanks.....?"

I had been prone to feeling strongly about the boys I'd dated before Caleb, and once the honeymoon phase ended with them, I was over it. With Caleb, I wanted something to grow organically and slowly so I could appreciate every second of it. I believed that the long-term was possible with him, but he went and dashed it all by dropping the L-bomb way too early.

And now, after six years of being together, Caleb has finally respected my wishes.

The other day, we were lazing around the living room watching something on TV. He looked over at me and said, "I think I may love you. You told me you wanted to take it slow, right?" I laughed, and said, "Thanks.....?"

I guess some things never change.

  1. Ok...that's an adorable story. It's funny how things end up, isn't it?

I never thought that I would marry a man that used 'So how was paintball?' as his pickup line...but I did. LOL
