In Which I Show Off the Poor Lighting of a Utah "Spring"

Maryam of Pamplemousse1983 first came up on my radar when I took the Red Velvet Summer Camp course last summer. At the time, she and I considered trading her doggies for my babies, but now she's having a baby of her own! I'm still dogless, however. Maryam's blog is so inspiring and inviting, which is why I did something I never do and actually tried to make some art. She posted a challenge to do some blind contour art on the same day that I bought Jack some watercolor paints. I went outside of the taught drawing technique, however, and used those watercolor paints to blindly contour Jack's profile. This is the result:

I did all of the blue first, then did the brown. All of this was with my eyes closed! I tried to recreate this with my eyes open to be less Jay Leno-y, but I think I like my first try better. It's more artsy. To make myself feel a little better, I also painted my fallback -- a beach!

If there's one thing I do poorly, it's art. If there are two things I do poorly, they are art and boogie boarding. I also have a list of three, four, five, and infinity things I do poorly if anyone is interested in knowing.

And just to be braggy, I want to show off the printable to-do lists that I won on Campfire Chic. They are made by Victoria of Batzy and I am so, so in love. Kam is having her April's Awesome Giveaway this month, where you could win fab jewelry, photos, and so much more! Come ruin my chances of winning for two months in a row by entering; it's as easy as leaving a comment!

Victoria also made a free downloadable printable for the 30 Days of Lists crowd, which I printed at the same time!

I am having a lot of fun trying to mingle with some new people, in an effort to go out of my comfort zone and face my stranger danger fears. First, the internet, next, the real world!

  1. AHHHH! His profile turned out so funny! I love it! It looks like one of those caricatures on the wall at that famous restaurant in NYC that I can't remember the name of. Awesome job!!!
